"Many thanks to the Committee for the invite to judge at this classic show, also to my two great stewards, Barry and Mick, for their well run ring, and to the exhibitors for their great entries. Having handled the breed several years ago, I was looking for good bone, substance with powerful strength being able to work - i.e. save a well built grown man from the water etc. Not necessarily, scissored and sculpted into shape and clever blow dried jackets. Coat comes and goes but sound construction does not. I was somewhat concerned in the rear movements and narrowness in several in the younger classes sadly; even very raw puppies should not have cow hocks and be as narrow in width all through as some were today, no amount of diet or roadwork will change this. Toplines varied and so did croups, width of loins and couplings and tail sets. Generally tightness of eyelids has improved there were barely any haws thankfully also looseness in jowls and pigment too. Exhibits were presented in clean knot free condition, some lacked in strength of muscling to thighs." Ms. Allyson Y. King |
