"The Southern Newfoundland Club held its 4th Championship on the 23rd November and what a superb event it was. The show was so well organised and I encountered a lovely happy atmosphere from the moment I arrived. Large noble breed that requires space to strut its stuff to full advantage so there were no excuses today as the ring was perfect. It is always a privilege to be invited to judge a breed club show, I enjoyed this one immensely. I thank the Officers and Committee for their kind invitation and the exhibitors for the lovely entry and sportsmanship.

I had the opportunity to judge some excellent specimens and felt that the challenges demonstrated what I was looking for, particularly the bitch line up. A credit to the breed.

I encountered no eye issues that gave me cause for concern. As with all breeds and often with the larger, heavier ones movement varied, In particular going away and there were a few sickle hocks. Temperaments were exemplary which one almost takes for granted with this noble breed.

I left with the feeling that the breed is in very capable hands."
