"Firstly I would like to thank the Newfoundland Club very much for the invitation to judge their Open Show, it is always an honour and privilege to be afforded such an appointment, and to receive such a fantastic entry was the icing on the cake.
Overall the quality of dogs was to a very high standard and upon reflection my line ups for Best male and Best female were a collection of superb dogs. As with judging any breed I take particular pleasure if finding the next big winner from the younger age classes and for the greater part the puppies and juniors on the day were very good, I especially look forward to following my Best Puppy in Show and Reserve Best in Show winner, a star in the making.

As with everything in life there were some disappointing aspects on the day, notably quite a few lame dogs, this could be explained by the very hot temperatures both in and out of the hall but a judge can only do his job based on exactly what he sees in the ring on the day and I did have to place some very nice dogs and bitches down the order because of this. In saying this I must say thank you to the exhibitors who for the most part accepted my explanation of their placing graciously, after all its is only one judges opinion.

All in all a throughly enjoyable and very well organised day with a fantastic atmosphere in the hall which my wife and I were delighted to be invited to be a part of."
