Judge's Comments |

"Although numbers are down I was very pleased with the quality of the entry. In the past I have not supported the idea of a champion class but today changed my view, particularly in the males, there where dogs present worthy of the title of champion that had none and will struggle with this quality of competition. In bitches there is now more depth of quality, we are getting back the size and substance (not fat) that has been so lacking recently. Movement was good overall and many do now ‘impress with strength and great activity’ as required in the Standard. On the downside steep upper arms are still prevalent, I also found some low set ears and throatiness which gives a very houndy expression, not at all typical of a Newfoundland." Mrs. Carol E.
