I was looking for a workman like dog without exagerations in any department. With such a large entry there was obviously going to be variation in type, none thankfully too extreme either way. All were presented in a clean condition, however a few could have done with a more thorough comb out. Temperaments were excellent, just one or two of the younger ones looked a bit overawed by it all. There were no excessively loose or light eyes and mouths were on the whole reasonably good. I had some difficult decisions in some classes notably limit and open dog and mid limit, limit and open bitch,the quality in these classes was excellent. Some good dogs were not moving as well as they can do, the main faults being excessive toeing in or else a tendancy for lazy hind action. Some heads were too overdone,losing the cleancut square muzzle with pendulous lips and a houndy type dewlap. The main problem in some of the younger ones were poor fronts lacking angulation and narrow chests - maturity will fill out the body but bone structure will not alter."
